Date: April 2019 – updated December 2019
Location: Windsor/Egham, UK
Name: Currently The Savill Court Hotel & Spa – opening 2020, as The Fairmont Windsor Park
No. of Keys: Was 141…to become 210 on opening
Seller: The hotel started life as a private home, Heath Lodge at the beginning of the 19th century…had a run of illustrious owners until John Henry Schroeder bought the neighbouring house – The Dell in 1864 along with 160 acres of land.
Eventually it was bought by Subud, a religious group, who called it Anugraha and wanted to run it as a religious retreat…Didn’t quite work and they sold it in 1991…Macdonald Hotels ran it in recent times as The Savill Court and Surinder Arora acquired the hotel in 2014 or so.
Buyer: The hotel was going to be the only non-branded property within the 12-strong collection of Arora Hotels.
Due to open in early 2020, the former 141-bedroom hotel is in the process of being extended, renovated and transformed into a luxury, 210-bedroom hotel.
Arora said: “We have been working relentlessly on the development of this wonderful property for a while now and I cannot express how delighted I am to see our dream start to become a reality. As a company and family, we are all truly looking forward to welcoming this new hotel to our collection.”
Following today’s announcement, the hotel will be the third Fairmont property in the United Kingdom, joining The Savoy in London and Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland, and demonstrates Accor’s growing partnership with Arora Group.
The site is being completely redeveloped to create a property in line with Fairmont’s globally-recognised standards.
With more than 75 locations around the globe, Fairmont is known for its grand and awe-inspiring properties, many of which are steeped in history and positioned as being at the heart of their local communities. The Windsor hotel promises to redefine luxury in the UK hospitality market, embracing the eclectic lifestyle of its location and boasting over 200 bedrooms and opulent suites, as well as a Royal Suite with exclusive access to a private section of the spa and wellness area.
The hotel will feature an impressive 2,500 square metre spa and wellness area, curated by leading industry experts, that will include both an indoor lap pool and outdoor vitality pool, treatment rooms, salt room, Hammam and Japanese foot spa with views over the courtyard and fire pit.
As part of its food and beverage offering, the hotel will have a tea lounge, specialist dining restaurant and a champagne bar serving champagne and wine from specially selected vineyards around the world. Additionally, there will be an all-day dining venue offering dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients, incorporating a private dining space and a gin bar.
In one wing of the hotel, Fairmont Windsor Park will offer 16 elegantly designed meeting rooms including an 800 square meter pillar-free ballroom with the capacity to cater events of up to 700 guests and two stunning event spaces with natural daylight, access to private terraces, as well as bespoke landscaped gardens for outdoor functions.

The signing also underlines our ambitious regional expansion plans demonstrating the UK’s continued role as a key global market.”
Sinead Hughes, Director of Grove Developments (the construction division of Arora Group) added: “Our development and construction team feel very privileged to be bringing to life what will be a high-quality luxury hotel in a country estate setting. To oversee such an ambitious project has been particularly rewarding and together with the Fairmont brand and we cannot wait to present the finished building, which with its striking design, opulent finishes and traditional exterior Jacobean architecture synonymous with the locale, will leave a lasting legacy”.
THPT Comment: Surinder has done fab since his start in 1993, following working for BA, he cracked on the idea of dedicating an entire hotel to BA crew, and went on use airports as his speciality…now diversified in hotel locations such as the InterContinental at the O2, and this new one in Windsor. Great to see the Fairmont brand coming in.
