The Opportunity: A unique opportunity to acquire this collection of freehold properties, hitherto used as staff accommodation hostels, by a London hotels operator.
They range in size from a dozen bedrooms to 50 bedrooms, with prices ranging from £1.75m to £10m. They predominantly have planning consent for use as hotel or hostel accommodation, but also offer potential for a wide range of alternative uses subject to planning permission.
Hotel sector specialist Colliers International, which is representing the private owner, is inviting offers for the entire collection, or for groups of properties or individual properties.
Colin Hall from Colliers International, said interest in the Bloomsbury Portfolio was anticipated to come from a wide variety of potential purchasers because of the extensive opportunities offered by the buildings and the fact that they are situated in a prime central London location.
“It has taken our clients 40 years to assemble this portfolio, which now provides the very rare opportunity of eight freehold buildings becoming available at one time in the highly desirable neighbourhood of Bloomsbury,” he said.
“These properties are in effect superb blank canvasses for future development across a range of uses, including boutique hotel accommodation, hostels/poshtels, offices and residential development.
“Historically, Bloomsbury has enjoyed some of the highest hotel occupancy rates in London, and these properties would enable a new owner to develop hotel/hostel type premises without having to purchase goodwill.”

THPT Comment: Fab opportunity to secure this number of rooms in one area…ideal for cluster management and sales and marketing. Most of the rooms are NOT en-suite and a full refurb will be required. The area is considered to be great for hotels, with The British Museum, Medical HQs and the recently upgraded IHG Kimpton hotel making it’s mark.

This is a new feature on the THPT site…. Hotel & Serviced Apartment owners can be naturally reticent in publicising their property is for sale…for confidentiality reasons, for staff and current client reasons, so the properties featured in this section will either be “generic” or “name specific”
Each fortnight we mail the opportunities posted that week, but check-out the tab “Hotels Available” and call us for details of “Under the Table” – deals not posted on the site at all
