The hotel is an established 4 star asset which in recent years has been under financial stress in part due to the distress suffered by Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Final offers deadline is Friday 9 August 2019.
Back in May 2016, Ken Anderson, together with former footballer Dean Holdsworth, acquired Burnden Leisure, which operated both the football club and the hotel – located with the club’s Macron Stadium. At the time, Burden was on the verge of going into administration with debts of £179.2m, including an unpaid tax bill of £2.2m.
Anderson, the new chairman of Bolton Wanderers, told The Caterer, at that time that Bolton Whites, which offers a venue capacity of up to 7,000 guests, already plays an integral part in the running of the Macron Stadium.
“The conference and event business is thriving, but myself and the hotel team know we can push it to the next level and that is the proactive stance we are taking as we enter a new era and into markets with a strong revenue stream such as larger music events and concerts.”
Sadly that company went into administration in May 2019 and the hotel closed temporarily.

THPT Comment: This hotel heralded a new concept, when it opened in 2003 by De Vere Hotels, a hotel integrally linked to a football stadium…sadly it’s fortunes are linked to the Club…as the hotel’s owner discovered to their cost.

This is a new feature on the THPT site…. Hotel owners can be naturally reticent in publicising their hotel is for sale…for confidentiality reasons, for staff and current client reasons, so the hotels featured in this section will either be “generic” or “name specific”
