THPT Comment: It’s the latest addition to what has become a hot development scene in the country, from the recent debut of Hilton’s Mahogany Bay to the also recent announcement that the first Marriott is coming to Belize.

Autograph Collection Hotels, in partnership with owner and developer Andrew Ashcroft, is expected to debut in Belize with the 2020 opening of Alaia, set in the southern part of Ambergris Caye island.

The beachfront resort will feature 56 two-bedroom condominiums with lock off option and eight oceanfront villas, totalling 120 keys when completed in 2020.

Alaia broke ground at the end of 2017 with a launch plan of five phases.

Hilton opened Mahogany Bay Resort – part of the Curio Collection brand in December 2017, an elegant hotel featuring 205 cottage and villa-style rooms across a 60-acre waterfront site with 10 distinct dining outlets, bay and beach clubs, and meeting and event spaces, also in Ambergris Caye.

Beth Clifford is the founder and developer of the hotel.

For a tiny Central American country, Belize is big on adventure. Its awe-inspiring 185-mile long reef is the second largest in the world after the Great Barrier Reef and its coral-encrusted Blue Hole is an iconic dive site.

Revered for its natural beauty, this less-visited land is loaded with treasures; from ancient Mayan ruins, cave systems, lush rainforests, remote reefs and white sands.

Squeezed between Mexico and Guatemala in the heart of Central America, Belize has both cultural appeal, abundant wildlife and natural wonders aplenty.

Best known for its tropical delights, Belize is home to two varying landscapes; lush rainforest and white sand beaches fringed by crystal clear waters.

Around 450 Cayes (islands) and atolls stud Belize’s coastline, home to swaying palm trees, Caribbean rhythms and the freshest seafood you will ever taste.

On the mainland, head to the Placencia peninsula for sandy beaches, limitless water-sports, barefoot villages and native wildlife in the Cockscomb Basin Nature Reserve.
