In a bid to give plastic bottles and other single-use plastics a new lease of life, an environmentally friendly luxury carpet underlay has been launched for the hospitality sector.

With 85% of the underlay made from recycled PET plastic bottles and other single use plastics, British manufacturer Texfelt is trying to combat the eight million tonnes that fill our oceans every year while improving air pollution at the same time, offering a cleaner living environment with its SpringBond underlay.

Available in 7mm double stick, SpringBond FR, Texfelt’s heavy contract double stick underlay system, is made from up to 120 recycled PET plastic bottles per roll and offers maximum performance with minimum environmental impact. Ideal for use in bedrooms and especially in corridors and function rooms where footfall and use of trolleys is greater, it’s a perfect solution for hotels, hospitality and leisure establishments, and can be installed via stretch fit or double stick depending on its location.

SpringBond also has a 9mm heavy contract stretch fit underlay, ideal for a more luxurious feel in bedrooms. As well as being green, clean and durable, the revolutionary carpet underlay is insulating in terms of heat and noise acoustics and has industry-leading sound-proofing properties, minimising the transfer of noise between floors.

James Taylor, Managing Director of Texfelt, said: “SpringBond is a prime product for commercial applications where the customer doesn’t want to sacrifice comfort for performance. It may sound too good to be true, but you can have both, while also doing your bit for the environment by avoiding plastic bottles polluting the world’s oceans.

A typical 10,000 sqm installation would see up to 120,000 500ml plastic bottles being used to produce the underlay, which is also 100% recyclable back into PET at the end of its life.”
An alternative to PU foam and rubber underlay, SpringBond is a cleaner, greener choice and improves indoor air quality with virtually no VOCs being emitted. Other benefits of SpringBond include:
• Its use of virtual spring technology – the eco-engineered Z-shaped structure creates natural bounce back
• It’s fantastic for sound proofing and has industry leading acoustic properties up to 45db
• It is incredibly breathable meaning mould and mildew don’t have a chance to develop

Texfelt is a world leader in eco-engineered carpet underlays. Part of JR Group UK, it has been manufacturing eco-engineered non-woven products for over 25 years and its multi-million-pound state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Texfelt owns a number of brands including SpringBond, the eco-engineered underlay. For more information either contact THPT or click here
