Buyer: On Thursday, August 1, hospitality brand Nikki Beach will open the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Santorini. The opening comes just as the hotel company is celebrating its 20th year in business since the opening of its first beach club in Florida.

The 62-room property, owned by The Katikies Group and operated by a joint venture with Nikki Beach Hotels and Resorts EMEA, is the brand’s second location in Greece. “We have identified key territories and locations which provide us with a unique brand fit,” Alexander Schneider, president of the Global Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts division, told Hotel Management. “Santorini was the first location that we executed from this short list.”

The rooms are reportedly designed “with relaxing colours combining the energy variations of sounds and lighting … Every space offers a Zen retreat feeling.” More than half of the rooms—37—have private pools, while another 10 have private Jacuzzi tubs.

Public space at the hotel includes three restaurants (Café Nikki, an all-day urban bistro; the outdoor Escape restaurant fusing Greek cuisine with Peruvian-style recipes; and the rooftop Skybar) and a Nikki Spa. Living up to the brand name, the property also has a beach club.

In celebrating the opening, Nikki Beach Hotels and Resorts EMEA CEO Jihad El Khoury said the opening is kicking off Nikki Beach’s next growth phase in line with the company’s development strategy. “This was driven by the investor’s trust in our brand and the market demand for fresh and relevant lifestyle resort applications,” he said, praising the group’s local partners, Hotel Brain and the Katikies Group.

Nikki Beach Hotels and Resorts first hotel project opened in 2010 in Koh Samui, Thailand. As of April, the company had grown its portfolio from four to seven properties either operating or under construction.

Today, the company’s Hotels & Resorts division also has properties in Porto Heli, Greece; Bodrum, Turkey; Dubai, UAE and now, Santorini, Last year, the company shifted its focus on reorganising the hotel division, driving its pipeline to the highest numbers in the brand’s history.

Several new projects are slated to open soon under the Nikki Beach Global portfolio. The Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Montenegro will be part of a luxury private-villa development. The property will have 150 rooms and suites, 20 villas, three individual private beaches, five restaurants and a spa. The Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be located within a new development along Balapitya beach. The property will have 200 rooms and suites, four restaurants and bars, a spa and a gym.

Schneider said, Nikki Beach’s overall development strategy will “remain selective and quality-driven.” The company, he added, will maintain “a focus on tomorrow’s destinations and markets for our lifestyle concept and design.”

THPT Comment: Nikki are driving their expansion plans well, with this Greek opening in Santorini and Europe and further afield.
