IHG to Open 2nd Hotel in Jerusalem

Date: March 2018

Location: King George Street, near the Jerusalem Great Synagogue, Israel

Name: InterContinental Jerusalem – Five star, opening 2020

No. of Keys: 229 on 17 floors plus separate building with luxury apartments. The hotel will also have a 130 sq. mtr. Presidential Suite.

Seller: The new hotel will be built on the ruins of a four-storey Shikun u’Binui Solel Boneh Infrastructures Ltd. building.

Buyer: The company building the InterContinental also owns the Tel Aviv Ramada Renaissance Hotel and the Eilat Riviera Hotel, which is leased to Isrotel Ltd. (TASE: ISRO). The Taic family owns the Tel Aviv InterContinental Hotel.

IHG already has the Jerusalem Crowne Plaza in the city. That hotel was planned as part of a joint venture between the famed architects Yehuda Feigin and Arthur Spector.

THPT Comment: Good to see Israel getting some of the top chain hotels, especially Jerusalem – maybe somewhere to stay for Donald Trump when his embassy is also open!
