Main Photo: The Lensbury Club, Teddington

Date: May 2019

Location: Teddington, Middlesex, UK

Name: The Lensbury Club

No. of Keys: 155

Seller: Shell, who opened and owned the property in 1920 as a grace-and-favour staff club.

Buyer: London & Regional, owner of Cliveden, Chewton Glen, Lygon Arms in the UK and 60+ other hotels globally.

The Lensbury has a spa, pool, gym and tennis courts on 25 acres by the Thames at Teddington. It opened to the public in the 1990’s as a hotel and country club.

A source close to Shell said it was selling the club because it is “not a specialist hotel and leisure operator”.

The club is next door to a 217 flat project being built by City Developments owned by Singapore’s Kwek Leng Beng.

Price: £60m

Price per Key: £387,907

THPT Comment: Great buy for L&R to expand it’s luxury UK hotel section…The price reflects the 25 acres of river frontage…Fab setting. We guess the current club members are wondering what it will mean for them.
