Buyer: The project is being developed by Seagate Real Estate Ltd., led by luxury residential developer Hertzel Habas and Orit Freedman Weissman, a former Goldman Sachs partner.

There will also be five restaurants and bars, various meeting facilities, a ballroom, spa and outdoor pool with dining options.

It will be located on Tel Aviv’s so-called ‘Golden Kilometre’ along the coast, home to some of the city’s most expensive real estate, though the group has not specified the exact location.

The hotel will be designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, the architects behind the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, while the interiors will be by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, who also did the group’s hotels in Milan and Bodrum.

Meanwhile the Residences will be designed by Israel’s Moshe Tzur Architects, with interiors by Milan-based Michael Vincent Uy.

“We are delighted to be opening a Mandarin Oriental hotel in Israel that will introduce new levels of luxury and a range of exceptional experiences to the city,” said James Riley, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

“Tel Aviv is a vibrant destination appealing to a wide range of international travellers seeking a unique cultural and leisure experience. This project is ideally placed to take advantage of the city’s many attractions.”

THPT Comment: Good to see Mandarin Oriental back on the expansion route with this Tel Aviv hotel and residences, with recently announced plans for properties in Lucerne, Nanjing and Istanbul.
