Marriott has Signed to Launch its Moxy Brand in Australia

Buyer: The 490sq m site, located at 30-32 Claremont Street, was bought for $6 million in 2017 by businessmen Hector Ktori and Peter Arvanitis and previously housed an office block.

Peter Arvanitis is the founder of listed aged care provider Estia Health. Mr Arvanitis, who resigned and sold out his entire stake in Estia Health in September 2016 following a profit downgrade that sent its value crashing. Hector Ktori is the director of shop fit-out company K&K Industries.

Conceputalised for both the young and the young at heart, Moxy Melbourne South Yarra has been designed by architectural firm Rothelowman.

“The Moxy brand will be a game-changer for the Melbourne and Australian hotel market where demand for bespoke lifestyle hotels is growing; fuelled predominantly by the growing number of Millennial and Gen Z travellers.”

Guests will be a short walk from Chapel Street – Melbourne’s trendy shopping and entertainment strip – and South Yarra Station.

Nearby are the city’s major tourist attractions, including the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Cricket Ground and the the city’s celebrated restaurant, bar and arts scene in the Central Business District.

Moxy Melbourne South Yarra promises a contemporary design with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the rooms with natural light.

The hotel will offer various live/work/play spaces, including a bar, co-working space and meeting studio, as well as a rooftop bar overlooking the city skyline with access to a large veranda. The hotel gym will be fully equipped with the latest cardio and strength training equipment.

With 30 operating hotels across Europe, North America and Asia and more than 80 properties in development,  South Yarra that will debut as Australia’s first Moxy hotel by the Marriott International chain.
