THPT Comment: We wish Marriott well with this new brand, but we hear some legal wranglings between them and Delta airlines, over the use of the name “Delta Hotels” by the airline…..Marriott International Inc. says in response to a federal suit in Georgia that Delta Air Lines Inc. breached a coexistence agreement by suing Marriott for trademark infringement after it acquired and expanded Delta Hotels in the U.S.

Marriott’s Friday filing also said that Delta acquiesced to the domestic use of the “Delta Hotels” trademark. It noted that Delta withdrew its opposition to Delta Hotels Ltd.’s application for a U.S. trademark registration in 1987, and that it consented to the mark’s registration in Australia, Chile, Israel and Taiwan between 2016 and 2018 “consistent with the worldwide coexistence agreement.”
