Marriott to Open 2nd Courtyard Hotel in Osaka

Tomoaki Horiguchi, the founder and president of Sun Frontier Fudousan Co., got the desire for hotels in 2016 and planned at that time to spend ¥60 billion to develop 4,000 hotel rooms, half of them with a partner, he said. The 58-year-old opened the first in Nagoya in that year.

Sun Frontier’s shares jumped 34 percent in October 2016, when it announced its hotel tie-up with the parent of Spring Airlines Co., China’s largest budget carrier.

The hotel will be the second Courtyard by Marriott in Osaka following Courtyard by Marriott Shin Osaka Station which opened in 2015.

Courtyard by Marriott Osaka Honmachi will offer 193 guest rooms and suites.

The hotel will feature an all-day dining venue that features an open kitchen concept and serves buffet and à-la-carte options. The venue is also accessible from the street, attracting a mix of guests and Osaka locals.

The hotel’s other features will include a meeting room, fitness room and a public bath.

The 17-story hotel also offers convenient access to various tourist attractions in Osaka including Semba Center Building containing more than 1,000 wholesalers, retail and dining facilities located in and around Shinsaibashi and Nagahoribashi areas.

Other attractions including the historic Osaka Castle and Universal Studios Japan is all within easy access from the hotel.
