A Serious Refurb: Leonardo Royal Hotels has released the first images showcasing the extensive refurbishment of The Midland Hotel, offering a glance of its stunning new interior due to be fully unveiled when work is completed in June 2020.

The £14m refurbishment project will see all of the hotel’s bedrooms redesigned, as well as transformed public areas. The most striking change, however, will be to the historic hotel’s main foyer which will feature a brand new, split level bar built on a raised platform opposite Adam Reid at The French, providing an eye-catching feature within the main area of the property for both guests and non-guests to enjoy.

The Midland’s food and beverage offering will also receive a brand-new look as part of the transformation, with current on-site restaurant, Mr Cooper’s, undergoing a full re-brand, turning into a British bistro with an all-day menu offering.

In addition to the public areas, the hotel’s 312 bedrooms are currently undergoing refurbishment, with approximately 120 bedrooms already complete. Featuring a restful, neutral colour palette adorned with luxurious soft padded armchairs, plump cushions and glowing lamps; the new rooms will offer guests ultimate comfort and style.

Jason Carruthers, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, comments: “The acquisition of The Midland hotel back in November 2018 by Pandox, marked the start of an extremely exciting chapter for Leonardo Hotels in the UK. The £14m investment allows us to make our own mark on this iconic Manchester property, whilst maintaining the hotel’s renowned grandeur. We’re very happy with how the refurbishment is progressing and look forward to welcoming guests, old and new to experience the stylish new surrounding of The Midland from June onwards.”

The refurbishment follows the full re-brand of the award-winning on-site spa which transitioned into Rena Spa at The Midland in November last year. The new spa offers a selection of specialist treatments, all using renowned French beauty brand, Caudalie, and Rena Spa at The Midland is particularly proud to offer a range of Wellness by Germaine De Cappuccini treatments specially designed for those who have or are recovering from cancer.

THPT Comment: Delighted to see Pandox, and their appointed management company, Leonardo (Fattal Hotels) doing full justice to this Grande Dame Manchester Hotel which started life as a British Rail (Transport) Hotel!
