Owner: Monopoly Property Group has announced its $42 million resort on the Yorke Peninsula will be rebranded to Wyndham Wallaroo Shores Resort under a new franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Wallaroo Shores is one of six major developments in SA that Monopoly are involved in, mainly commercial and residential.

Franchisee and Manager: Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is set to expand its presence in regional South Australia after adding a Yorke Peninsula resort to its portfolio.

Scheduled to open by 2023, Wyndham Wallaroo Shores Resort will offer 100 villas and a host of leisure facilities including swimming pools, tennis courts, barbecue areas, a gym, a 42-seat luxury cinema, and a function able to seat up to 150 guests.

The resort is the first stage of a AUD$220 million mixed-use project spanning 18.5 hectares that is estimated to generate more than 1,000 jobs during construction.

Owners Monopoly Property Group engaged Savills to conduct the selection process for the venue, with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts emerging as the final choice.

Monopoly Property Group CEO Alex Paior said having Wyndham Hotels & Resorts onboard as a collaborator for the development was a “strong vote of confidence” for South Australia’s regional tourism market. “Given the location and style of our resort, we feel that the upscale Wyndham brand is a strong choice and a great fit for us,” he said.

“We are thrilled to join the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts network and look forward to leveraging its strong global presence and loyalty program to elevate the profile of Wallaroo as a destination for international and domestic travel.”

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific President Joon Aun Ooi said he expected the new resort to become a favourite with holidaymakers and corporate types seeking a peaceful respite away from the city.

“Wyndham Wallaroo Shores Resort is an exciting development and we are proud to introduce our Wyndham brand to South Australia with a premium resort product set along one of Australia’s most beautiful coastlines,” he said.

“With its exceptional location on the Copper Coast and outstanding facilities, we expect this resort to be a popular corporate retreat.”

Situated on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia and is a two-hour drive from Adelaide, Wallaroo is known for being a holiday hotspot for families thanks to its scenic walking, cycling and driving trails, while also providing plenty of highlights for foodies with its chic cafes serving freshly caught seafood.

THPT Comment: Great move for both parties and expands Wyndham’s footprint in Australia. Interesting the larger project is to be managed by Mantra, now part of Accor…buy Wyndham won the resort hotel deal.
