In 2018, the brand had announced an international expansion by 2020, planning to open about ten hotels within two years to bring the number of hotels to 20.

Last year Nobu announced plans for its second London property, to be located on Portman Square close to Marble Arch Underground Station.

The lifestyle brand took over the existing Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, owned by L&R Hotels…also owned of the Hard Rock Hotel, London (formerly The Cumberland).

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is scheduled to open shortly in 2020, and will feature 239 rooms and suites (down from 272 currently), as well as a Nobu restaurant, and meeting space including a ballroom.

Interiors will be created by London-based architecture and interior design firm, David Collins Studio, in conjunction with Make Architects.

The group opened its first London hotel in Shoreditch in 2017, and last year announced plans for its first property in Israel, with a 38-room hotel and restaurant development in Tel Aviv.

Nobu Hotels was founded after extending the Nobu Restaurant brand to a lifestyle hotel brand. The first Nobu Hotel opened in 2013 in Las Vegas. Nobu claims that each of its hotels is closely connected to its environment.

THPT Comment: The independent brand already has 10 hotels in operation and 8 more in its pipeline.
