Name: Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof

Location: Frankfurt’s Museum District, Germany

Number of Keys: TBA

Who’s Involved: Steigenberger, H Rewards and tinyBE are offering overnight stays in habitable sculptures located at the very heart of Metzlerpark in Frankfurt’s Museum District/ International art scene descends on Frankfurt.

A series of exhibitions entitled “tinyBE living in a sculpture” is set to provide a truly inimitable hotel and cultural experience between 26 June and 26 September 2021 as it joins forces with the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof to offer overnight accommodation inside unique pieces of art.

These habitable sculptures are located in Metzlerpark in Frankfurt’s Museum District, right between the Museum of Applied Art and the Museum of World Cultures. In its capacity as the project’s hotel and co-operation partner, the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof is taking responsibility for fitting out the sculptures, for checking guests in and for arranging a shuttle service.

Internationally renowned artists such as Thomas Schütte, Mia Eve Rollow & Caleb Duarte have been involved in designing the exclusive sculptures. The only pre-requisite applied to their brief was that the artworks must not exceed 30 square metres in size and need to be constructed using sustainable materials. One sculpture, for instance, consists almost entirely of plants. Another has been constructed using mushroom sheets, and there is also a piece that features only wood.

“The Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof represents the epitome of hospitality, quality and tradition,” stated Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality. “Our H Rewards loyalty programme offers unforgettable experiences which money cannot always easily buy. For this reason, it is entirely consistent for us to be supporting tinyBE in such a venture. tinyBE’s designers have come up with a living, tangible and habitable exhibition which heralds the return of art and culture. We are delighted to be part of it.”

“The excellent service of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof is a great addition to our tinyBE art project. A unique experience in the field of tension between big and small,” adds Barbara Knoflach, Co-Founder tinyBE.

These exclusive lodgings can be reserved via the ticket platform Eventim. Check-in will take place at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, and a driver service will then be used to transport guests to their habitable works of art.

tinyBE in Metzlerpark opens today, Friday. Cornelia Saalfrank, the initiator and curator of the exhibition, Professor Matthias Wagner from the Museum of Applied Art in Frankfurt/Main, further participants, and the artists themselves will all be in attendance. The latter group includes Christian Jankowski, Terence Koh, Laure Prouvost, Mia Eve Rollow & Caleb Duarte, Sterling Ruby, Thomas Schütte and the MY-CO-X Collective.

THPT Comment: OK this is the weird story of the week, but a more serious piece of news coming up next with the same Steigenberger teaming up with Porsche Design to roll out the new brand.
