Name: NewDog PR

Who They: This week saw the launch of NewDog PR, a strategic PR business for hotels, with a focus on the investment arm of the sector.

NewDog PR was founded by hotel sector enthusiasts Katherine Doggrell and Emily Newman, driven by a need for clear, gripping PR in a market rapidly moving into the mainstream for investors.

The group launched with clients including: PnK People, Watson Farley & Williams, Magnuson Hotels, bestselling author Daniel Fryer and Resources for Leisure Assets.

Doggrell made the not-unheard of leap from journalism into PR and was most-recently EMEA editor-in-chief at Questex Hospitality. She has written for publications as diverse as the Financial Times, the Guardian, Q, Mojo and Business 2.0 and is the author of Checking Out: What the Rise of the Sharing Economy Means for the Future of the Hotel Industry, published by Bloomsbury.

Before Questex, Katherine was Editor at the respected Hotel Analyst magazine, for some 10 years and still edits HOSPA’s The Overview magazine aimed at Hospitality FDs.

Newman is communication specialist having worked with brands, events, professional services, media and not-for-profit organisations. She greatly enjoys capturing and developing a human and engaging tone of voice, creating zero-waste content strategies and working with sector and business media to deliver quality content.

Newman said: “The last few months have shown us the power of communication. We’ve seen examples of triumph: honest and human tones, engaging and spirited language and collective and community minded approaches. We’ve also seen the dreadful, poorly timed, off pitch and insensitive.

“New roads lead to NewDog and an opportunity to help those in the hotel sector deliver their clear message relevantly and accurately. And I firmly believe we can do all this without uttering the word ‘solution’, which would make life complete.”

Doggrell added: “The hotel sector is becoming an essential part of every portfolio and the pandemic has seen innovation flourish. Hotels used to wow guests with the latest technology and remarkable service and that spirit is with us again.

“It’s a thrill to be able to tell the stories of some of the companies driving change in a market which is proving its worth to investor and consumers.”

NewDog, which is based in the UK and France, is working with companies across the hotel stack and is eager to talk anyone who feels they have a tale to tell.

THPT Comment: Katherine and Emily are well-known to the financial investment sector and promise to offer a refreshing new approach to what can be a somewhat staid (or far too flowery) image from some of the existing players. Emily was a major player at Questex/DeLys Marketing, organisers of UK’s Annual Hotel Conference, a must-attend event (pre Covid) held in Manchester each year.
