Date: January 2021

Location: Heringsdorf, Island of Usedom, Baltic Sea, Germany

Name: The Maritim Hotel Kaiserhof Heringsdorf, to be renamed the Hotel Kaiserhof Usedom

No. of Keys: 143

Seller: Gerd Seele, S + S Company, a local architect, who refurbished and opened the hotel in 2009

Buyer: The Friedemann Kunz Family Foundation, to which Scanhaus Marlow belongs, has bought the hotel. The new operator from January 1st is the Rostock Arcona Group. The hotel, which will be called Hotel Kaiserhof Usedom in the future, was acquired by Scanhaus boss Friedemann Kunz from the previous owner Gerd Seele at the end of November 2020.

To this end, a 20-year lease was concluded, as the head of the foundation’s real estate division, Arno Pöker, said. The employees of the traditional hotel on the Heringsdorf beach promenade will all be taken over, as Arcona communications director Christiane Winter-Thumann stated.

“We are happy that, despite the difficult framework conditions during the corona pandemic, we were able to secure this unique location for us in the long term,” said Alexander Winter, managing partner of the Arcona Group. “We will continue to develop the house so that it will remain one of the top addresses on the Baltic Sea in the future,” he emphasized.

Arcona currently has six hotels in Germany, as well the recently opened Erika Boutique Hotel in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

THPT Comment: Great news for this small, but growing boutique hotel owner/operator, specialising in this part of Germany.
