Buyer: Scottish group Perle Hotels has added a fifth property, buying the Glencoe House hotel in the Scottish Highlands. It is the group’s second purchase this year, after it bought an Inverness property in February.

The Glencoe has been refurbished by the selling owners, who took it on in 2010. Perle, which launched in 2014, has two hotels on the Isle of Skye, and properties in Oban and Inverness.

Glencoe House, which offers loch and mountain views and now has 14 suites, was built by Lord Strathcona in 1896.

Perle Hotels declared that, over the last few years, Mr Niemeyer and partner Judy Pate had “lovingly restored and brought this stunning property back to its former grandeur”..

The Scottish hotel group, which was established in 2014 and has grown rapidly over the last five years, added: “As part of the sale of Glencoe House, all existing employment contracts will be honoured and all staff will continue working for Glencoe House, which will be owned and operated by Perle Hotels.”

Fasih Rehman, owner and chief executive of Perle Hotels, said: “Glencoe House Hotel and its team are a fantastic addition to our growing hotel group.”

He added: “We appreciate what a very special place Glencoe House is, but also the very high standards at which it operates now and we intend to build further on these in the future.”

Perle Hotels currently owns and operates four hotels in Scotland, in Portree on the Isle of Skye, and at Inverness and Oban.

The Marmalade and Bosville hotels overlook the harbour in Portree. Lochardil House Hotel is a short distance from the centre of Inverness. The Perle Oban has views over the harbour of the west coast town.

The hotel group noted it was continuing to work on expanding the Marmalade Hotel, which currently has 11 bedrooms.

The extension will add 23 bedrooms – to meet what Perle described as “strong demand to stay at Marmalade” – as well as a new lounge area. The second phase of the Marmalade extension work is due to begin in October, with the full extension expected to open by April next year.

Perle Hotels noted Glencoe and the surrounding area were well known for walking locations such as Rannoch Moor and The Hanging Valley. It added that Glencoe House was also close to the Ice Factor indoor ice-climbing centre at Kinlochleven.

The hotels company, of which Beth Rehman is the brand director, received the Queens Award for International Trade last month at Buckingham Palace.

THPT Comment: This small hotel group, Perle, has made great strides since it’s start in 2014.
