Who: HotelMap, a market leader and specialist in hotel booking for events, has today launched its brand-new StaySafe™ campaign to help venues kick-start the recovery of the live event industry. Through the creation of a brand-new StaySafe™ HotelMap, the company is helping venues present a clear picture of the nearby hotels, within walking distance, and with details of each hotel’s new StaySafe™ procedures, implemented to reduce the risks associated with coronavirus…. and special edition StaySafe™ HotelMaps have already been produced for 1,200 event venues, incorporating the new COVID-19 health and safety procedures of 157,796 hotels worldwide.

Recognising the need to help event attendees feel safe when returning to live events, HotelMap has produced a brand-new, fully customised StaySafe™ HotelMap and is making it available for free to any event venue or organiser, anywhere in the world. These special edition HotelMaps can be added to any venue or event homepage, offering potential visitors a visual representation of all hotels located within walking distance from the venue, and as a result, providing the reassurance of being able to stay close and stay safe. The new HotelMap also shows special restart hotel deals and live availability data, but most importantly, it details all of the StaySafe™ procedures being implemented by each hotel.

“This is a great moment for us all to work together and help the world of events kick-start the restart” said HotelMap CEO, Steven Potter

According to the McKinsey ‘Consumer Leisure Travel Survey’, which surveyed 3,498 travellers from five countries in April 2020, the majority of leisure travellers place additional hotel health and safety measures as one of the most important factors needed to make them want to travel again.

Among these measures, intense room cleaning using UV light and disinfectant is the action most desired by travellers. The new StaySafe™ HotelMap details which hotels are actioning these measures along with any additional steps such as mobile check-in, contactless room keys and specially sealed doors to demonstrate that a room has been cleaned.

HotelMap can provide this hotel booking map and service to any location in the world

In response to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, HotelMap has diverted its engineering resources to build solutions specifically to help restart the events economy and all StaySafe™ services are currently free for any venue or event organiser.

HotelMap has already produced StaySafe™ HotelMaps for 1,200 of the world’s largest event venues and inspected, analysed and organised the new COVID-19 coronavirus health and safety procedures of 157,796 hotels, including 6,066 Hilton Hotels, 7,415 Marriott International Hotels, 3,856 Wyndham Hotels, 3,751 Best Western Hotels, 3,144 InterContinental Hotels, 2,428 Accor Hotels, 819 Radisson Hotels and 518 Hyatt Hotels, plus 129,799 smaller chain and independent hotels. The process is ongoing and will be updated as more properties re-open.

THPT Comment: We have known Steven Potter and his team, since they launched as a London-only map and booking service in the 1990s, and even then we thought they had the smartest user-friendly technology…this development has bought it right up to date with real validity in what’s important to potential hotel guest…will I feel safe! Well done guys.
