Buyer: The Wyndham Grand Adelaide will be a new-build development tipped to open in 2024. A towering new AUD$150 million landmark development set to begin construction in Adelaide will become home to the maiden Australasian presence of the upper-upscale Wyndham Grand label.
The 120-metre tower will, once complete, hold the mantle of Adelaide’s tallest hotel. It is being developed by Equinox Property under the guidance of Guava Lime Property Solutions, with Savills Australia having negotiated the operator selection process with support from Commercial & Legal.
Designed by Loucas Zahos Architects, Wyndham Grand Adelaide will sit on King William Street in the Adelaide CBD, offering 347 guest rooms with a modern interior featuring green walls, marble fixtures and colourful, contemporary furnishings. Floor-to-ceiling windows will ensure all public and guest spaces are naturally lit, with views overlooking the surrounding city and urban parklands.
Guest facilities will include a fine dining restaurant with wine bar, a rooftop restaurant and sky bar facing the Adelaide Hills, which will feature alfresco seating. The hotel will also feature an infinity pool with sun deck and poolside bar, fitness centre and day spa with sauna and treatment rooms.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts President, Asia-Pacific, Joon Aun Ooi, said Wyndham Grand is known for its iconic locations so he was excited to be able to bring the brand to Australia.
“The South Australian capital has been experiencing a surge of investment, with new infrastructure projects such as the expansion of Adelaide Airport, the revamp of the Adelaide Oval, and now, the creation of one of the city’s tallest hotels,” Joon said.
The arrival of Wyndham Grand joins the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts collection of brands in Australia, with the company presently operating more than 50 properties under labels including TRYP, Ramada, Wyndham and Club Wyndham. In New Zealand, the company also operates a Days Inn and will soon debut its TRYP and La Quinta brands in the country.
Wyndham Destinations Asia-Pacific Senior Vice President, Warren Cullum, said Wyndham was the perfect fit for the new Equinox development in central Adelaide.
“This new hotel will represent the pinnacle of hospitality available in Adelaide and we are proud to have the opportunity to provide an incomparable experience to guests and showcase Adelaide to the world,” Cullum said.
THPT Comment: Great news for Wyndham with this addition to their 50 plus hotels in Australasia.
