Wyndham Opens Two New Ramada Hotels in New Zealand

Buyer: The Ramada portfolio continues to grow in the Asia-Pacific, with a long-time developer cutting the ribbon on two new properties for the brand. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has added more than 200 new rooms to its New Zealand inventory, opening two new-build hotels in Auckland and Wellington under its Ramada brand.

The two new properties include the 93-room Ramada by Wyndham Newmarket Auckland and the 117-room Ramada Suites by Wyndham Taranaki Street Wellington, with the two openings taking the development partnership with New Zealand’s Safari Group to 11 hotels. The new properties will be operated by Accommodation Works Limited and the Marsden Group respectively.

Ramada by Wyndham Newmarket Auckland features 93 rooms and apartments. The two new hotels feature a range of accommodation layouts from hotel and studio configurations to self-contained multi-bedroom options, designed to suit both leisure and business travellers for either short or longer-term stays.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts President, Asia Pacific, Joon Aun Ooi, said: “With New Zealanders seeking domestic travel more than ever, our two new hotels in highly sought-after locations will help cater to the increased number of New Zealand travellers in 2021 looking to explore the best of their own backyard.”

Ramada Wellington allows close access to a vibrant city and nightlife environment. The hotel is located is a five-storey new-build in the city’s business district. Apartments feature individual kitchens and laundry facilities, while guests and visitors can also access an equipped purpose-built meeting room for meetings or cocktail functions.

Ramada Suites by Wyndham Taranaki Street Wellington marks the Ramada brand’s debut in the Kiwi capital. The 117-room property is located close to Lambton Quay – a major part of the city’s entertainment and nightlife scene. The six-storey development features studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, some with kitchen and laundry facilities.

THPT Comment: Wellington was due to open in 2020, but hey Covid has caused problems to hospitality across the world….whilst New Zealand has been exemplary in containing the pandemic, it has done so at the cost of incoming tourism.
