Seller: Located close to the historical Company’s Garden, the project forms part of a precinct redevelopment by Growthpoint, representing a R550m investment in the city.
Developer: Growthpoint Properties will develop a 150 room hotel in Cape Town, South Africa for a 2021 opening. Hilton have signed a management agreement.
Growthpoint, South Africa’s largest REIT, will include the hotel in a larger precinct redevelopment in the Longkloof district. Growthpoint have a 50% interest in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, as well as being a major player in mixed-use retail developments throughout South Africa and has moved into Australia.
Hilton launched Canopy in 2014 and to date has nine hotels open with more than 35 in development.
Rudolf Pienaar, chief development and investment officer of Growthpoint Properties, said the investment reflects its confidence in Cape Town as well as Hilton’s exceptional upscale lifestyle hotel brand.
