Hilton To Debut Waldorf Astoria Brand In Costa Rica

Hilton International has expanded it’s Costa Rica and luxury footprint with the signing of Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste hotel.

Located on a peninsula and offering ocean views, the new-build is the first Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand property in Costa Rica. It is still under construction and expected to open in 2025.

Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste will house 190 luxurious guest rooms and suites, including a Presidential Suite compound, as well as 25 private residences.

Guest amenities at the property will include a wellness centre with advanced gym, a movement studio, outdoor yoga, and lap and thermal pools as well as a cenote-inspired spa featuring eight treatment rooms and three outdoor treatment rooms.

The hotel also boasts approximately 10,000 sqf of meeting and event facilities, including indoor and outdoor space, an event lawn and a pavilion for weddings.

For young guests, the property has a kids centre and teen’s club.

Guests will also have access to a signature restaurant and bar offering selection of food and beverage options as well as a specialty outlet and a gelato shop.

Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste will be managed by Hilton and owned by Revolution LLC, Cacique Investors, and Garnier & Garnier.

Revolution LLC, the company created by AOL co-founder Steve Case, launched Revolution Places in 2007, an original approach (in the day) to sustainable destination resort communities.  Their first development in Cacique, was planned to open in 2010. Today they invest in real estate and hospitality opportunities and manage Exclusive Resorts, an upmarket travel specialist and Miraval Resorts, in the USA

Cacique LLC is and was a food company, who received an injection from Boston-based Baupost Group, by them taking a stake in 2021.

Garnier & Garnier Desarrollos Inmobiliarios is a Costa Rican group with more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and owners of the Santa Ana Country Club, a residential project and Six Senses hotel & resort due to open 2024

Currently, the company operates a network of 200 hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America, with more than 100 hotels in the development pipeline.

Last month, Hilton signed it’s first Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts property in Vietnam.

THPT Comment: Great to see this Hilton brand, Waldorf Astoria in Costa Rica, although one wonders if this island can support such an array of luxury premium brands.
