The handover is scheduled for December 4th. With this takeover, Ahorn will operate six hotels in the three-star superior and four-star categories with a total of 2,136 rooms.

Mayor Thomas Schulz sees the change of ownership with a view to the further development of the hotel positively, also in relation to the Biathlon World Cup 2023.

The Panorama Hotel needs renovation. Lately, the negative guest reviews on the popular booking portals have accumulated. The 15-storey hotel, whose form is based on two ski jumps, was opened in 1969 and quickly became one of the most popular hotels in the GDR.

THPT Comment: One forgets that the old GDR has some very horrid hotels in it’s day! Glad to see this one will get the modernising treatment.
