Deutsche Hospitality’s Steigenberger Hotels Signs 14th Egypt Property

Date: April 2018

Location: Luxor, Egypt

Name: Steigenberger Resort Achti – open Q3 2018

No. of Keys: 281 rooms, suites and bungalows

The company’s new Luxor property will be on the East Bank of the Nile River.

This Steigenberger hotel will have 281 guestrooms, suites and bungalows. Steigenberger Resort Achti will be the company’s 14th hotel in Egypt and its second in Luxor following the Steigenberger Nile Palace.

The 110-suite Steigenberger Pure Lifestyle in Hurghada will open soon after in November 2018 as part of the Mega Steigenberger Aldau Resort, which also has the existing hotels the Steigenberger Aldau Beach and the Steigenberger Aqua Magic.

This latest signing follows the opening of the Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasso in the Gulf of Hammamet in Tunisia on April 1, 2018.

Deutsche Hospitality partner ITT Hotel Corporation of Tunisia owns the hotel with 371 guestrooms and suites.

This is the third operating Steigenberger hotel in Tunisia, following the Steigenberger Hotel Kantaoui Bay and Jaz Hotel Tour Khalef in Sousse.

Deutsche Hospitality recently launched a new hotel brand—Maxx by Steigenberger—in early March 2018 to continue its global expansion.

The group intends to fill the gap between its luxury and upper upscale Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, upper mid-scale IntercityHotel and lifestyle Jaz in the City brands with the new chain.

Deutsche Hospitality is currently in talks to open its first Maxx by Steigenberger hotels.

Steigenberger planned its expansion in India with MBD Group in early January 2018.

The companies teamed up for a joint venture to manage and franchise new hotels set to operate under the MBD Steigenberger and MBD IntercityHotel brands.

The first property to open under the agreement will be the MBD Zephyr in a mixed-use development in Bengaluru’s Whitefield neighborhood as the first MBD Steigenberger hotel.

The companies will also open another two MBD Steigenberger hotels and two MBD Intercity hotels through the JV.

In the pipeline they aslo have Riyadh Saudi-Arabia, Heihe China, Frankfurt Germany, Bangkok Thailand, Hildesheim Germany, Dortmund Germany, Nizwa Oman, Saarbrucke Germany, Dubai UAE, Budapest Hungary, Baden-Baden Germany; Muscat Oman, Bangalore India, Doah Qatar, Cape Verde (2), Herford Germany, Hannover Germany, Hamburg-Barmbek Germany, Wiesbaden Germany, Flensburg Germany, Zurich Switzerland, Berlin Germany, Vienna Austria (Jaz), Graz Austria, Berlin Airport Germany, Heidelberg Germany and Bielefeld Germany! (gosh I am exhausted just typing the list) due to open between 2018 and 2023.

THPT Comment: OK we are a bit confused…we knew Steigenberger/Deutsche Hospitality, of late, as a Hotel management company (having been more a representation company in days of old)…so we seek clarification. Either way they have a busy few years ahead of themselves!
