Accor announced the signing of a contract for a new greet hotel in Berlin. The hotel is the brand’s second property in Germany and ninth worldwide, following the successful opening of the greet Hotel Darmstadt. Situated in a prime location at Alexanderplatz, it will comprise a total of 61 rooms and is expected to welcome guests by February 2022.
The hotel will have Pure (standard) and Pop (upgrade) categories, with an existing building on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz transformed to house the new greet hotel. The open-plan public area will include a breakfast lounge, business area, bistro, and a 24/7 mini-market with snacks and food.
The greet brand was founded in 2019 and provides a cost-effective, efficient yet environmentally sustainable travel experience. This philosophy is also reflected in the greet Berlin, which is easily reachable by public transport just a few minutes away from Berlin’s main railway station. It is also well connected to Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Alexanderplatz is one of the liveliest squares in the German capital with shops, cinemas, restaurants and many landmarks such as the famous Museum Island, are within walking distance.
“We are very pleased to open greet Hotel Berlin, our second greet property in Germany, and drive forward our strategic expansion of the brand. We see a great demand for Berlin as the German capital, an international cultural destination and business hub for both leisure and business travelers in the future. greet offers a unique and enticing proposition for visitors to the city – central, sustainable, modern, cost-effective,” explains Camil Yazbeck, Senior Vice President Head of Development Accor Northern Europe.
Accor is has again partnered with the GCH Hotel Group as a trusted and long-term franchise partner for this project. “With our extensive experience as franchise partners for Accor’s flagship brands ibis and Mercure, we are delighted to bring greet, a new brand, to Berlin for the first time. Efficient, sustainable as well as cost-effective without compromising on design, greet Hotel Berlin will be an exciting addition to our portfolio,” says Sascha Hampe, CEO of GCH Hotel Group.
Launched in 2019, for all those who care about the impact of their travels, greet offers comfortable and affordable hotel stays that feel positively different. Guided by the belief that good actions fuel good feelings, greet brings to life a movement for circular hospitality, inviting guests, staff and partners alike to join a virtuous cycle of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The ambition: to minimize the production of goods, better manage waste & reduce overall environmental impact. greet complements Accor’s portfolio of economy brands with a non-standardized hospitality experience unlike any other. Following successful debuts in France and Germany, the brand has an ambition to grow to more than 350 hotels by 2030, including flagship locations in Paris, London, Lyon and Vienna.

THPT Comment: Delighted that greet is a sustainable new brand addition to the mighty Accor…but why the lower case “g”? At 61 rooms, this Berlin hotel is quite small compared to Darmstadt’s 194 rooms.
