Buyer: Marking the brand debut in Spain, JW Marriott Madrid, expected to open in 2022, is set to feature 139 guestrooms and offer a fresh perspective on luxury hospitality in Spain’s capital.

The hotel will provide guests with a new destination to rediscover a balance in mind, body and spirit in the heart of the city. Located in the central Plaza de Canalejas, JW Marriott Madrid will be developed by Millenium Hotels Real Estate as part of their lease agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of Belagua.

The hotel’s design will be led by local architects Arvo Arquitectura de Juan, with interiors by the Rockwell Group. Design plans are expected to offer a sense of balance and warmth, inspired by the principles of mindfulness, using natural elements, interesting textures and tactile spaces.

Millenium Hotels Real Estate SOCIMI – MHRE is a real estate vehicle that specialises in developing and investing in high quality hotels in Spain and Portugal, especially in the high quality sector.

MHRE has a portfolio of some nine hotels currently under operation and in the process of being repositioned. These include Via Castellana Madrid, Melia Bilbao, Lucentum Alicante and Plaza Magdalena Seville amongst others.

MHRE is listed on the MAB since 4th of July 2019. The company is headed up by Javier Illán Plaza, President and CEO. He founded Millenium Group in 2000 as a real estate investment vehicle (club deal), which included commercial, office and hotel assets located in prime areas in Madrid, with a value proposition based on repositioning these assets for subsequent sale or rental.

THPT Comment: This Millenium company (with one “n”, nor to be confused with Singapore’s Millennium Hotels) has made it’s mark on Spain with some great hotels.
