The Ritz-Carlton brand will make it’s Melbourne debut in March 2023, Marriott have announced
The 80-storey hotel, located on Lonsdale Street in the CBD, will feature a top-floor lobby, 257 luxury hotel rooms and suites, on-site restaurant and bar, holistic wellness spaces, an infinity pool, as well as meeting and event facilities.
Part of the Marriott Bonvoy collection, The Ritz Carlton, Melbourne aims to “redefine luxury” in the city with “extraordinary design, exceptional experiences and breathtaking views”.

“With design that blends the best of the brand and the destination, combined with the finest amenities, culinary offerings, and highly personalised service, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne will deliver an experience tailored to today’s luxury guest and deeply connected to this vibrant city.”
The hotel aims to deliver an authentic, hyper-local experience that celebrates Australia’s ancient stories and vibrant cultures by showcasing local art and culinary offerings and using unique Melbournian décor and materials.
Page said the hotel will bring “a new landmark to this great city”.
“We look forward to unveiling this stunning property and to welcoming guests with the warm hospitality, refined ambiance and the legendary service for which The Ritz-Carlton is renowned the world over,” he added.
…and on Australia’s Gold Coast, Marriott will bring another Ritz-Carlton in 2026 after striking a deal with Melbourne developers Ross Pelligra and Dion Giannarelli to operate a 150-room hotel at their $480 million Mariner’s Cove hospitality and marina precinct.
“The timing is right for a Ritz-Carlton on the Gold Coast,” said Richard Crawford, who heads up Marriott’s hotel development for Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific.
“Affluent domestic travel is alive and well. We’ve had a record year at our existing resorts on the Gold Coast. We have confidence in a Ritz-Carlton hotel at this location.”

THPT Comment: This hotel marks the second operational Ritz-Carlton property in Australia, joining The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, which opened in 2019. The Sydney venue closed its doors in 2001 and was rebranded as the InterContinental Double Bay. Another hotel is set to open at the end of 2023 in Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf….well done
