Mogford Funds Refurbishment at Old Bank Hotel with £8.5m from Santander

Date: August 2018

Location: Oxford, UK

Name: The project includes the 17th century Old Parsonage Hotel & Grill, Gee’s Restaurant, the Old Bank Hotel and Quod Restaurant.

Owner: Jeremy Mogford, owner, Mogford Limited, said: “The refurbishment means we can continue to offer customers the highest possible standard and level of service. We are incredibly excited about the new rooftop bedroom at the Old Bank, which is the first of its kind in Oxford and will no doubt be very popular.

The team at Santander Corporate & Commercial really understands our business and the sector in which we operate so their support has been invaluable throughout this process, by providing £8.5m funding loan”

Nigel Chivers, relationship director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “Mogford’s hotels and restaurants are premier destinations in Oxford and are constantly striving to remain at the top.

The funding from Santander has allowed them to complete the refurbishment across the group and continue to offer the extremely high standards that their customers are used to. We look forward to continuing to work with Jeremy and the team.”

Mogford Limited was founded in 1987 by restaurateur Jeremy Mogford who has a long history of owning and managing successful hotels and restaurants.

Jeremy founded Browns Restaurants in 1973 with then-business partner John Mayhew, before selling the group in 1996 to Bass Brewery.

THPT Comment: Santander haven’t been at the forefront in funding hotel purchase and refurbishment, so does this herald a new era?
