IHG Expands European Presence With Five New Hotel Signings With Grape Hospitality In Spain, France & Italy

Buyer: Grape Hospitality, a major European hotel group, as the owner, operator and manager of 106 hotels and 70 restaurants in 8 European countries, with over 10,000 rooms operated under a franchise contract. Grape Hospitality relies on a stable and accepted shareholders’ agreement, with Eurazéo to accelerate the development of companies with the highest growth potential, and hitherto, Accor for the strength of its brands.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its presence in Europe by reaching development agreement for five hotels with Grape Hospitality.
The new properties include voco Madrid Centre Retiro, Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro and three Hotel Indigo properties Italy, France and Spain.
The 193-key voco Madrid Centre Retiro marks IHG’s first voco hotel in Spain, while the 168-room Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro will be the second Crowne Plaza property to open in Madrid.
Both these hotels are slated to launch in April 2024.
The three new Hotel Indigo properties includes Hotel Indigo Florence, a 160-room property, which is scheduled to open later in 2022.
IHG also signed an agreement for Hotel Indigo Bordeaux, it’s third Hotel Indigo-branded hotel in France.
Based in Bordeaux Chartrons, the 100-room property is set to open in May 2023.
The third Hotel Indigo property, Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via Plaza España, will feature 189 rooms.
Slated to open in April 2024, the hotel will be the second Hotel Indigo to open in Barcelona.

Currently, IHG has 40 open hotels under the Hotel Indigo brand in Europe, with another 19 in the pipeline.
voco and Crowne Plaza have 15 and 88 open hotels, respectively, across Europe.

THPT Comment: Grape has hitherto been a big supporter of Accor brands mainly Novotel and Ibis, so a big move for them to take in IHG upmarket brand voco…and Indigo.
