To acquire this fine property, in this idyllic archipelago off Africa’s east coast. The island is a volcanic archipelago, in the warm Indian Ocean waters of the Mozambique Channel. The nation state’s largest island, is ringed by beaches and old lava from active Mt. Karthala volcano. Around the port and medina in the capital are carved doors and a white colonnaded mosque, the Ancienne Mosquée du Vendredi, recalling the island’s Arab heritage.
The hotel has a private beach, three themed restaurants and bar, gym, pool and spa. There are three meeting rooms to hold 300 people, so perfect for both local receptions and weddings and international incentive business.
The four original Islands were a key trading post from the 15th century and annexed by the French in the 19th century. Three of the islands gained independence in 1975 (the fourth island remains a department of France) and most organised tours island hop between these three. Typically, trips rely on short flights (it’s 25 minutes from our island to Mohéli), or a combination of boat and air travel, to get between the islands. Roads are often poor, although the main round-island road on the main island is reasonable. You can also hire bikes.
Airlines operating to the island include Air Madagascar and Kenya Airways, into Moroni Prince Said Ibrhaim International Airport, a 15-minute drive from the hotel. AK
